Here in the Ohio River Valley area, we regularly are in the high 90s temp. and high 80s-90s humidity for our summers, starting in mid June and lasting all the way to mid August.
So far this year, we've been in the high 90s continuosly for about 5 weeks now.
As an aside, I lived in Phoenix for 2 years between 2005-06 and the heat is brutal, but as long as you get in the shade, as mentioned, the breeze cools you off in no time.
But, the very day we planned to move back to Indiana in 2006, the temperature hit that year's record on July 21st at a whopping 118 in the shade. And there I was loading our trailer...I about died 5 times or so.
