I have not one Scottish drop in my blood (mainly viking and celtic) so I'm thinking of the comments; ''Why are you wearing a kilt? You'r not Scottish!'' Do you guys think it's okay for a none Scottish person to wear a Scottish outfit with a tartan kilt to, for example, a wedding?

If you want to wear it, then WEAR IT!!! I doubt you'll find many people here that would tell you not to. Anyone who tells you you shouldn't wear a kilt or tartan or whatever just because "you're not Scottish" is, quite frankly, an idiot.

On this forum?!?! Not that I've seen (aside from the "forum trolls", who seem to be weeded out pretty early on in their posts and don't count anyway.) I recently went to the 45th Annual Rocky Mountain Scottish Festival, and I had conversations with a couple Scotsmen that had just moved to the US, and not ONE single one of them had any problem with anyone wearing a kilt as long as there was a least a little bit of respect given to history or origin of the garment. In fact, they all implied that they felt more at home when they saw someone wearing a kilt, whether it was a newer "contemporary" style or a "classic" kilt.

I don't know, maybe I'm taking your comment the wrong way, but "cultural rape" seems a fair bit excessive and unnecessary.

Certainly not on XMTS. Perhaps an unfortunate choice of words on my part, but I've seen some pretty extreme opinions expressed on other sites, and I'm just wondering which view is more prevalent.

P.S. Ok, admittedly Stormfront is probably a pretty fringe group. I probably shouldn't read too much into what they say over there.

If it were left to the Scots alone to wear the kilt they would alas be a relatively rare sight.

Frequent kilt wearing is the exception and not the rule alas.
