Hats
Hey gang, I'm looking for some hat suggestions/advice. I've felt lately that Utilikilts look better when paired with the right hat (a theory that will likely change from day to day) and wondered what sorts of hats everyone wears to accessorize. Right now I'm wearing a Cherokee brand "safari" hat... not really sure what it's actually called, but it's got the wide brim that I wear with the sides folded up and snapped into place.

I just received my balmoral from Kinloch Anderson. Dark blue no diced band. I love it!! Fits perfectly too!

Tweed flatcap for me. Love flatcaps. They go with anything and everyone looks good in them.

No balmoral, glengarry, or tams for me. I wear flat caps (whether kilted or not actually.)

I'm a piper, so I wear the Glengarry. Otherwise, I don't don a hat because it's too hot; although, sometimes for utilitarian reasons, I've worn a straw cowboy. I have a waxed-cotton touring cap (aka flatcap) for rain.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I think hats are matched better with the wearer's head size and face shape than with a garment that's a few feet away (lower). If you look good in a safari or fedora or ball cap, you'll look good whether you wear it with slacks or a casual kilt.
I think a tartan kilt might be a different story, but with your Utilikilts, go with what looks best on your head.

I like any and every cap except a ball or fishing (front brim only) cap.
