Question New SWK kilt and belt treatment?

So I just received my 1st one. a SWK Standard Blackwatch, and their standard belt. I was impressed with the fabric. I tried it on and it fit, so I removed the stitches. Yes!

Question is: I noticed that the leather on the buckle straps and on the belt are a little dry and stiff. Is it advisable to hit the inside with a little mink oil to loosen and soften them up?

    Thanks

Welcome to X-Marks. I suspect you'll find that the straps become more flexible the more you wear the kilt. Mine did.

They usually do soften up with use...don't overflex it while stiff or it might crack a bit. If you put dressing on the leather be sure it is worked in completely so it won't rub off on your new kilt!

Saddle soap is a good conditioner and will help the leather last a lot longer. Great for the straps on the kilt, sporran and belts!

Congratulations on your first kilt. A little saddle soap does wonders on the straps.
