I once saw The Flying Scotsman on a main line in England a few years back, she had a diesel engine at the rear. One bystander said this was in case she broke down, they had to be able to keep the line clear for scheduled trains. But other bystanders commented "didn't ought to break down, the prices they charge". Just came to mind as I read this thread.

Interesting that that ad was placed in the "Stars & Stripes". I know thjat our "Lads & Lasses" are making a wee bit more than I I did, BUT ??? Was this in the "Field Grade Officers Only Section" ????/

It wasn't an ad. It was a travel article (taken off a wire service).
