I didn't think that those were fake pockets...just that they were sewn shut, a common practice on lots of suit jackets and vests that I've bought recently. I assume that it's done so that they stay neat in transport and the buyer has the option to keep them sewn shut so that they keep a neat appearance. Okay, what good's a pocket that's sewn shut is is anybody's guess...a pocket is for puttin' stuff in, right? But the stylish and trendy young folks of today must want a neat appearance while not having to stuff their pockets with...uh...stuff.
Anyway, I just cut the thread on the lower pockets and use them for the odd item that I'm toting around. Figured that all of them would be the same.
