Just curious, McMurdo, does the underflap(?) of your Montrose follow the same line as the overflap and does it also button?
The reason I ask is, I was watching the HBO John Adams series on DVD over the weekend, and in a couple of scenes Thomas Jefferson was wearing a double-breasted tail-coat that was cut straight across the front with 4 buttons buttoned and very wide lapels. It had a separate high fold-over collar. Anyway it struck me as very similar to a Montrose half unbuttoned and folded into lapels from the front.
