This is what I should have posted previously. Sorry.
My French eyes didn't even "see" the gun...
My point was : cowboy belt buckle and vest.
Again, accept my apologies.

Well we have - shame on him. What were we saying about having respect for one's host?

What you may not be aware of is that pukka Perthshire lairds only wear white tie... which incidently, is never incorrect with a dinner jacket, although rarely encountered these days.
What is unfortunate in the photograph of Malcolm Caithness, et al, are the unfortunately far too short jackets and waistcoats worn by mssrs. McIntyre and Sinclair. A gentleman should never show any shirt between his kilt and waistcoat.
(I'm ignoring the white socks-- these gentlemen have suffered enough!)

On the contrary. I submit that if these gentlemen had suffered a bit more, there would be no shirt showing between the waistcoats and those tightly-stretched kilt tops.

Dirty Martini (same as Martini but with a little of the olive juice in it)
The martini is an acquired taste, with practice and patience I have acquired it!

My dear Sir,
Just a question do you consider the current rage in flavored "Martinis" the social equivilent of say mixing scotch and root beer?

It's been established that I am NOT a gin fan, or a martini fan in general. that being said though, I think the flavored drinks that bars attempt to pass off as "Martinis" should be called something else, because even they are a disgrace to the name Martini.
And please, no more visuals about mixing scotch and root beer. I gagged a little at that thought.

I usually wear a belt with my PC and weskit otherwise I'd have nothing to hang my Dirk from.
I do wear a cummerbund with trews but would think it decidedly 'unconventional' with a kilt.
Whatever you do please try and avoid the gap twixt the weskit and the kilt. I have a button on the inside of my kilt and a tab on the weskit to join then 2 together!

Scotch and Root Beer... a story from the California wastelands
Years ago Elmer Keith, the doyen of 20th century pistoleros and hunters, was a guest in my home. I had been forewarned that the redoubtable Elmer drank Chivas Regal and ginger ale. Needless to say I ran out of ginger ale before I ran out of Scotch, but not before Elmer ran out of thirst... so, without missing a beat he went over to 7-Up and, eventually, root beer and Chivas. One shudders to think what one does to be a good host....
