    Gaelic phrase help please

    Jo, Gaelic speakers.

A customer came into the shop a few moments ago and is asking about a phrase he heard.

Is "Tearing the Tartan" a phrase used to mean "To Speak Gaelic"?

As I was once told from a Scottish friend, it refers more to BS-ing with one's cronies.

I've never heard that phrase before. I think Sanders has it right.
