    There are lighter weight kilt hose out there. It gets warm here, and I have quite a few pairs from W.Brewin Sock Co. http://stores.channeladvisor.com/wbsocks/Kilt%20Hose/
    They are thinner and cooler than standard wooly hose, and reasonably priced! The trade-off is that they might 'show through' a little when stretched over bigger calves, but they do breathe better in hot weather.


    PS: I found "close to 70 degrees" as an example of warm temps pretty humorous! The Houston Highland games are in May, it could be 90 degrees with 80% humidity down here by then !
