Modern colors would be made from freshly cut wood, weathered colors could be from driftwood, muted would be sun bleached and ancient would be just plain rotten.

At least you wouldn't have to be worried about moths, especially if you used cedar to make it.

Might have to get termite treatments every spring though.

    Watch out for kilt-checking woodpeckers.

    “…from the Danish origin 'kilte'.
    Danish?!!!

In-joke for the acoustic guitar pickers out there:
If it’s not 60 year old Brazilian Rosewood (or at minimum Honduras Mahogany) topped with North American Red (Adirondack) Spruce; then it’s :crap:

How did the wood crate manufacturer get his kilt? He pleaded his case.

A bevy of kiltmakers being called a block party. Pleated to the sett or the grain? Wood it be designed for the boxing ring? Beveled or box pleats? 0.5 cm lightweight or 1.5 cm Strome? Hook and eye fasteners, or rope and link?

Oh, cut it out, Triminde! We all saw too much! It just rubbs against the grain!
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
