			Happy Tartan Day to Me!

Well, back in November I scored a kilt length of ancient Cameron of Erracht tartan for a very good price. Air postal would have actually cost more than the fabric, so I opted for surface mail. It was mailed on November 28th.
Oh yeah...the seller was in the UK and I'm in North Carolina, USA.

In late March, after waiting for 4 months, I emailed the seller to let her know that the fabric had not yet arrived. She very generously offered to refund half of the purchase price so that we would share the loss (How amazing is that? What a lady.) I declined, saying that I wasn't yet ready to give up hope.

On Tartan Day, April 6th, my wife called me and said "I've got news that'll make your day!" Yep...my tartan had arrived.

The seller wasn't too clear about the details in the auction description, but I thought it was worth a risk. Turns out this is quality wool, 13 ounce fabric, kilting selvedge, and beautiful colors. There were a few small moth holes (tiny, really) that the seller described in the auction text. They are really tiny and I should have no problem reweaving them into non-existence. Four yards double-width....for about $35.

Well worth the wait for sure, but that Jones was a real killer!

Congrats on the new fabric. I hope it becomes a kilt in better time than the shipping!

That was a long time. I've had surface material arrive a lot sooner. Glad it came, even if it was 5 months.

After considerable thought, I have decided to convert this piece of fabric into my first self-made tank. I'm going to follow Barb's book line-by-line...I'm sure that I will learn much in the process.
 Photos will follow.
