One of my kilts is an inexpensive acrylic. It's a good kilt for around the house. It might be ok for your purposes. Personally, I don't think that I will buy another acrylic. For everyday wear, I would go with a contemporary or PV. Like billmcc, I like the PV used by USA Kilts. The Marton Mills PV has a Teflon coating and resists pilling, a major issue with acrylic. You can get your pockets with Sport Kilt. I'm very satisfied with the Sport Kilt that I own.
