I think that green would look good, either a close match or darker than that of the tartan, particularly if worn with something else in dark green - I keep visualising dark green velvet jacket and lace jabot - but I really shouldn't.
Flashes could be dark - as there is a dark stripe in the tartan, to tone down the colours, as red or purple flashes might be just that bit too much, perhaps.
Of course, get the shades just right and many colours will go together quite happily - but I suspect that a tartan with purple, red and green might prove a bit difficult to keep calm.

Too ... much ... purple? I'm not sure that I understand that sequence of symbols...
Matching can be tricky, but it's usually not as bad as almost-but-not-quite the same shade of green.
Apologies for the color registration here, I must re-shoot that sequence. Soon as I get that purple tweed jacket & waistcoat lined up...
