Ya, see the new information guide on DIY bow ties by pdcorlis that Panache just put up.
As I understand it, part of the middle section around the back of the neck is not made of the tie material. I guess if the tie is being worn with a laydown collar, it doesn't matter if that part is the same as the rest of the tie.
And thinking about it, the diamond points could be tied such that they are extended passed the bows to show... Interesting.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
