Unfortunately, I'll be heading off to Toronto at the weekend for a conference. I've got lucky, though -- One of the first presenters, so the work will be done first thing and I can circulate and listen to what other researchers have to say. And go out for dinner and drinks with friends, including our GTA rabble and other visitors! Woo Hoo!
Enjoy your time in Super Natural BC! Travel safely.

We look forward to your visit! Have a good trip up! I love the belt and buckle too. As an aside, the picture on your AAA/CAA guide is of Hatley Castle at Royal Roads University (used to be Royal Roads Military College) where my eldest son is being married this Sunday!

Are you guys flying up 5 or are you winding your way up 101?

Your room(s) will be ready at The Rockport, home of The Wizard of BC and the KiltedKnome. You and Jamie get the guest room with the Ferintosh Guest House carafe and whiskey glasses. The kids get Steve's room -- he has promised to clean it up.

Hey, um...will you be at the Enumclaw Games? They're in Washington, this coming weekend.
Hey, um...NO!
Sorry Alan, the choice was 20 or more of the finest micro breweries of the Oregon area or a games.
Needless to say, we chose the beer!

Thank you, Bobbie!
I'm sure his mess cannot rival theirs.

We were dragged out of bed at 4:30 this morning. For some reason, Jamie always has to leave at the crack of dawn whenever we drive anywhere.
So I made him take the first shift. I must say, by 9:30 we had driven quite a distance-nearly to Mount Shasta.
Here's our fearless driver (note the athletic socks and comfortable shoes. Even our Panache bows to the neccesity of comfort, though he did change to hiking boots and scrunched down the socks later).
We stopped at a rest area on the shores of Lake Shasta (I believe), and we (meaning Jamie) were lucky enough to score a new bird (a Western Tanager)!
Just for the record, trying to identify a hawk through binoculars, while driving at 80 miles an hour (being driven, actually) is not a good idea. First of all, it doesn't work. Second, it leads to car sickness.
But, it is possible to get nice photos of mountains while driving.
Mount Shasta:
And another mountain (I haven't looked up which one yet):
We got a very good omen at lunch time (I'm sorry to say, the time frame does not extend to our arrival in Canada, but at least we know the Brew Fest will be good! ):
And, just for the edification of our members...Jamie is smaller than a mountain, although I'm not sure that can be said for his ego!
That's all for now-time to feed the children.
Be well,
Star

Perfect Mt Shasta day! And now I know you're flying up 5.
Did you stop in Weed?
(For those not familiar with the route, that would be Weed, California)
Oh, and the Loud MacLeod with the red hose! Yes! Black ultra casual shirts on top, yes! The shoes.... well, nobody is perfect (Looks like you donned some boots later in the day--good choice!)
