Hello from the Pacific NorthWest
Hello All,
I am in Washington state a bit south of Bellingham right now. Within the next 6 months I will probably be moving further south to Seattle. I have been wearing kilts regularly for about 5 years now. I first wore a great kilt at a Ren Faire about 7 years ago. Later i bought my own great kilt for Faire. Currently I own that and one Utilikilt. I am hoping within the next year to pick up at least one or two tartan kilts. Currently I am thinking a SWK heavyweight in the Leatherneck Tartan.
I am originally from San Antonio and there are 5 or 6 of us who regularly go out kilted when I am home. Up here in WA I have got one friend to buy a UK and we will go out wearing them sometimes.
I was in the Marine Corps from 99 till 03. Seems like there are alot of Marines on this board. Something about the type who goes into the Corps and the type who wears kilts? Don't know. Currently I am in the process of starting a business manufacturing high quality replicas of Antique swords for use by Martial Artists. So far we have 2 models of Katana, a Scottish/English style backsword, and a Spanish Rapier. The Katanas can be seen at http://www.asaswordworks.com
Hopefully soon we will get pictures of the Backsword and Rapier blades up as well.
I have been enjoying getting educated on kilts from this board. It seems to be a great resource with many very knowledgeable members as well as a pretty fun place. I look forward to participating on it.
Chuck

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Welcome, from Fairbanks, Alaska!! And I think you will find that there are quite a few fellow former Marines around here. Heck alot of vets for that matter. I was Army from 94-98, Army Guard 98-01, and Air Guard from 01-04.

Welcome to the group Chuck. I agree with Alaskan Kilted Guy, there are quite a few vets on the board, myself included.
I spent 4 years in about the same area (Whidbey Island) that you're in now while I was in the Navy.
Now I reside in the Carolina's, but I do miss the beauty of the Pac NWest
