I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

I just bought some at the local fabric store. A pack of two for $2.50.

I don't understand. Is it the pin's only purpose to weigh down the outer apron?

That is correct. It's only real purpose (other than decoration) is to weigh down the outer apron. If you pin the kilt shut, you'll affect the swing (not to mention, get dirty looks from the kilt police).

where do you put your kilt pin?
That rather depends upon where you want it to tear a hole in your apron when you snag it on something.

At the games on Saturday, a wandering kilt inspector suggested to me that the pin ought to be aligned to the stripe, as shown here: http://www.your-kilt.com/kilt-pin.html

    True?

    True?
That really is a matter of choice, I have done that on some kilts but if it doesn't exactly line up is it really that big a deal?
