I've seen what you are describing before; personally, I feel the old "rule" about only one lapel badge per jacket applies to bonnets/glengarries as well -- the cap badge is all you need, INMHO. Others may disagree and free to, of course.

I would enjoy that but I normally use tie bars/clamp to help shorten the length of the tie to make them work better with the high rise of the kilt.

I do have a California Quail lapel pin I do use with some of my shorter ties that I am quite fond of.

I've never seen a two and a half inch diameter tie tack before. Or one inch. All of the pins I have from the Long's Peak Highland games are between 1 and 2.5 inches so a little large for that. I like Todd's idea of the Riker mount to display them. I'll have to make a nice box for that.
