Oran Mor is indeed from the Albany area, although they have pipers and drummers from all over the NE. The son of one of our Grade 3 pipers is the Pipe Major (Andrew Douglas, who played with SFU for several years while he was in school in BC). They did pretty well for having competed for the first time in Gr 1 at Worlds. Here's what was in an email from a friend who was at Worlds:
"They tied the 78th* in Piping in the qualifier, beat LA Scots (who had trailing drones) and also finished ahead of Peel Regional police – other than SFU, were the best North American band."

Barb, maybe I'm misinterpreting the results, but it looks like Triumph Street, the 78th and Alberta Caledonia were all ahead of Oran Mor overall. They were ahead of Peel and LA Scots, though. In piping, they did tie the 78th, but were still behind Triumph Street and AlCal. I agree, it was a good result for their first Grade 1 at Worlds.
