Be bold and Be comfortable. These 2 factors alone make a huge difference . I was at a wedding in London last week so obviously the only one in a kilt. I have like a 44 inch waist and a 56 inch chest (yes I do far to many weights and eat far to much to boot)
I always find you get attention outside Scotland in a kilt but I spent most of the time posing for pictures with strangers and seriously had my drinking time curtailed. So watch yer don't over do the brass.
Wear a dark jacket and hose black is very slimming wear a sedate tartan with long vertical stripes works a charm. Avoid loud brash tartans as this draws the eye to much where you do not really need it.
