I have some of those. Tell you what, if you don't have some of your own, you pay for shipping and they are yours. PM me if you're interrested.

Well Tony, I sounds like you're most the way there already! - you're preparing to don the kilt with bravado and a stylish yet defiant thumb to the nose of convention! I wholeheartedly agree with Big Mikey and McMurdo (both of whom I hold in high regard); despite the physiological framework with which we are all involuntarily graced, confidence and a slight tweak of strap-work will overcome just about any kilted reservation! Go for it, and good on ya Man!

Be bold and Be comfortable. These 2 factors alone make a huge difference . I was at a wedding in London last week so obviously the only one in a kilt. I have like a 44 inch waist and a 56 inch chest (yes I do far to many weights and eat far to much to boot)
I always find you get attention outside Scotland in a kilt but I spent most of the time posing for pictures with strangers and seriously had my drinking time curtailed. So watch yer don't over do the brass.

Wear a dark jacket and hose black is very slimming wear a sedate tartan with long vertical stripes works a charm. Avoid loud brash tartans as this draws the eye to much where you do not really need it.

My wife already recommended a dark/ black shirt, so I will do that. The advise on teh hose is well taken too.

I agree that confidence and self-assurance will do the trick. I shan't let you gents down!

I am a very ah..... slender guy... and I have to say I personally think kilts are one of those things that the bigger you are the better you look.... dunno for some reason I have never really seen a big man look bad in a kilt if its worn right.... matter of fact I feel its easier to look good in a kilt for a big guy then it is for us skinny folk!
I guess I am trying to say a big fellow in a kilt just screams MAN..

					MMorgan
I'm on the skinny side myself and, like you, I think it's tougher for us slim Jims to look the part! My legs are my worst feature and it took years of kilt wearing for me to feel comfortable from the kilt down.

Mind, we ALL get attention, just the same ;o)

I assume that my choice of the MacBeth tartan will be a good one. I'll wear it with a blue or black jacket
