Glad you're getting some time off from the books. I have no doubt the PT portion of your training will offer no difficulty...at least until that little green guy starts yammering on and on while you're trying to concentrate on standing on one hand. Good lord, he would just not shut up!

Neat caves and pix. Ft Wood was also my basic training site - January 1969. With the weather that winter, we didn't look for anything else to do. Glad you are finding things.

If you have time this coming weekend, the Southwest Missouri games are in Buffalo Sept. 11 and 12, which is just a few miles west of Leonard Wood. The website is here:

    We'll look for you.

Reminds me of the old country song about the fugitive who gets lost in Millers Cave. Neat pictures, thanks for sharing. Good luck with school.

The end of Week 2 at the DOD Police Academy

Well it has been a long week again, Monday we had our law exam and I and three others scored 100% and many people missed one or two questions because they failed to think or read the entire question. A perfect example is one question that read

    1. What is the unlawful killing of another human?

    The four possible answers were,
    a. murder
    b. manslaughter
    c. homicide
    d. involuntary manslaughter

The correct answer is (a) because homicide is for use in the civilian arena, i.e. PC187 which is known as homicide and we are dealing with the Department of Defense and not a local agency.

After we reviewed the law exam we then went into law enforcement ethics, criminal liability, traffic law, law enforcement conditioning, survival / color codes, and use of force.

The entire class was pretty sore, bruised and just plain tired by the time 0430 came Friday.

    The first day of DT.

Mr. Cheeks showing us the proper way to handcuff.

Friday Mr. Cheeks did a take down with me and I swear I thought my right elbow was going to pop out of the socket! I was face down on the mat with sweat pouring off my forehead!

Here I am doing a takedown.

Tuesday we have our second test and then we split up into two squads of 15 and half will spend two days on first aid and get CPR / AED qualified and the other half will spend time driving the Chevy Impala Police Special on the track.
