Beers of Summer
A Chicago bar, The Bottom Lounge, had a "Beers of Summer" tasting on July 1. Since that was also the anniversary of the Repeal of the Proscription... it seemed like a good time to throw on the kilt. Here's my wife and I from that night:

What comments I received were very favorable. Yes, I am wearing a jacket despite it being July. The weather has been that weird in Chicago this year.
While there, we met the owner of Delilah's (turns out my wife knows his wife), a bar that has arguably the best selection of whisky in the city. He liked the kilt, and will definitely remember me because of it. Hopefully that will pay off in the future.

Great picture! The burning question is: what beers are you holding?

I had to go back to the original photo to find out (many were sampled that evening). Cheryl's holding an Arcadia Ales brew of some sort - by the color of the label I'm pretty sure it's the Whitsun. No idea what I've got in my hand; probably the same.

Unfortunately, that was too long ago to remember in great detail. The Unibroue beers were all uniformly excellent, but they always are. Sam Smith's had a new Organic Ale that was really tasty, and they also had a couple of fruit beers that were pretty good - not sickly sweet like some can be. IIRC Great Lakes Brewing had some interesting stuff, too.

Kilts and beer go well together
It sounds like a fun evening.
And with your title I just can't help myself...
Nobody at the Pub
Nobody at the Bar
They're gone
and thats the rub
Empty taverns,
Empty clubs
The bartenders have gone home
I drive by them all
My taste buds feel all alone
But I can see them-
Their rich brown color shining in a glass
With a thick head of foam
and ice cold baby
And I can tell you my love for them
Will still be strong after the beers of
Summer have gone
I never will forget those nights
And all those tasty suds
Remember how they quenched my thirst?
Remember how I never settled for those Buds?
Now I dont understand whats happened
To our beer,
But babe, I'm gonna get them back
Yes one day again I'll cheer
Out on the road today I saw an ad for winter brewsBut I can see them-
Their rich brown color shining in a glass
With a thick head of foam
and ice cold baby
And I can tell you my love for them
Will still be strong after the beers of
Summer have gone
On a magzine back
A little voice inside my head said, dont
Look back. you can never look back.
I thought I knew what good beer was,
What did I know?
Those days are gone forever
I should just let them go but-
But I can see them-
Their rich brown color shining in a glass
With a thick head of foam
and ice cold baby
And I can tell you my love for them
Will still be strong after the beers of
Summer have gone
But I can see them-
Their rich brown color shining in a glass
With a thick head of foam
and ice cold baby
And I can tell you my love for them
Will still be strong after the beers of
Summer have gone
(With apologies to Don Henely)
