Homecoming Scotland. Did you visit this year?
I have just finished read Alex's thread http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/h...x.html?t=54216
It is my understanding that the purpose of the whole Homecoming Scotland celebration was to win people back and to get people of Scottihs heritage to return to Scotland in celebration.
My questions is did it work? How many people went back in 2009? Was this your first visit?
Personally I was there for 5 days in April (notice the avatar of me enjoying lunch under the shadow of the castle). We spent time Shotts, Dunoon, Edinburgh and a stop over in many towns along the way (including Glasgow). This was our second visit and most certainly not my last.

It was my second visit to Scotland and we spent about 10 days. We stayed in Inverness, Glencoe, Hawick while attending the Clan Elliot gathering in Newcastleton, and Edinburgh.

The Gathering gave me the push to go for two great weeks in Scotland. If you missed my thread on the trip, click here.

I visited but didn't travel over to do so and it wasn't as a we.
So I don't think I can give an accurate vote to the poll.

Sorry Trefor, I saw that afterwards and without my old mod powers I can't edit the poll to say I....

Yes, my wife and I made our first trip to Scotland this summer, we enjoyed every minute of our time there. Meet up with a second-cousin. We toured the Lowlands and the highlands.
Just can't wait to go back.

I answered "yes, (we) were there at the time of the Gathering", but that wasn't the subject of Alex' post, Colin. He was referring to Homecoming and how wonderfully active his year has been. Your question doesn't relate to Homecoming, but only to the single-weekend commercial Edinburgh Gathering. Did you really mean to limit the poll that much?

Thanks Colin - have never started a poll here so I didn't know they couldn't be edited the way we can with our posts.
