There seem to me to be too many rules and moderations here to have a decent discussion on anything. If everything said in these forum is censored to insure that no one can possibly be offended it will degenerate rapidly to a group of dandies admiring each others clothes. The history of the Celtic race is what made us. By denying or diminishing ANY part of it you loose the whole. Do we go back to saying the earth is flat? the earth is the center of the universe and the sun rotates around it? Did the Holocaust happen?
If you have a different take on a historical event then we can discuss it! Politeness is a wonderful thing, but to try to work around the fact that our common past has been long and bloody is to do us all an injustice. Many of us own replicas of the basket hilt and the claymore, (reference Jaime's photos earlier in this thread) where do you suppose they came from? What is the kilt? Why is it worn? Was it ever outlawed? By whom?
If we take these things out of the conversation, we lose our purpose. Royalty? If your talking about royalty in Ireland that would be Brian Boru, in Scotland The Bruce, the Sassenach don't enter the equation but in the role of the oppressor.
If you want to deny historical fact, to my mind you end up like charactor in the Stan Rogers song "The Nancy"
"
The clothes men wear do give them airs, the fellows do compare.
A colonel's regimentals shine, and women call them fair.
I am Alexander MacIntosh, a nephew to the Laird
And I do distain men who are vain, the men with powdered hair."

It is my hope that this is a more substantial site than that.

I'm a 55 year old kilted Celt. I'm an old, fat bearded, opinionated, biker type. I don't feel the need for approval from another regarding the way I dress and don't wish to spend my time telling others, "Well done, nice kilt if that's not what I truly believe."
Please tell me if I've stumble onto the wrong site.
