    Hello All!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile.

I have had a long love affair with pocket watches and with few exceptions have never been without one. When my sight went I resigned myself to having to live with a loud talking wristwatch. I decided one day that I would move to a braille watch and thought I'd end up with a wristwatch. My VR counselor wonderful lady that she is actually found a Braille pocket watch for me! Now I tell the time with style and eloquence that only a pocket watch affords. Among the several pocket watches I own the Braille watch and the gold pocket watch that my wife gave me for our 25th wedding anniversary twelve years ago are my most cherished.

To keep this kilt related: When one is not wearing a waistcoat where does the watch go? I wear mine int the shirt pocket with the chain running to a button hole that is slightly above the top of the pocket. This works well for me. I'd like to hear from you guys on how you wear without the waistcoat.

My chains are all plain and vary in length some being about half the length of standard.

I have a belt hook on my most often-used chain. With a kilt, I drop the watch into the right pocket and don't put anything else in there. With my UK Workman, I put the watch in an outer pocket, where I can pull it out easily.

I've seen the shirt pocket done, it seems like it works well. I always keep mine in the sporran when kilted with the chain clipped to the front where it's covered by the flap. I'm not sure if I'd do that with a mechanical watch, though, I'd be afraid all the banging about would break the balance.

Also, the jacket breast pocket as I mentioned before, if you're wearing a jacket with a lapel buttonhole. This is the strap I have which is made for that, but I've seen it done with chains as well.
