They are selling kilts in a tartan called "Skye Isles" which looks distinctly like the copyrighted Isle of Skye tartan that the Gold Bros have previously been sued for copyright infringement.
Although I was aware of the infamy of the Gold Bros, I was unaware of the extent of their history of intellectual property violations. Google just told me there was also an issue with them and the Princess Diana Memorial tartan... The Scotland Kilt Company is supposedly independent of the Gold Bros (though they distribute many of the same products) and it is sad to learn that they are also making the same mistake by selling the "Skye Isles" knockoff.

I have recently been corrected in my mistaken accusation that The Scotland Kilt Company, the apparent offending agent in this situation, was a part of the Gold Bros company, when in fact, although it sells much of the same branded items and the Gold Bros "heritage" line of tartan kilts, it does not appear on any of the Gold Bros. sites as being on of their owned and operated businesses. My apologies for this mistaken accusation have been made on another thread.

Forrester, didn't you say that they have the same family name? Despite the claims of their rep on this forum, I have to ask if they are not just a spin off, to keep such issues from sticking to the main branch. Any one have more info?

Btw, CMcG, great shot, hose or poor hose!!!

The owner of The Scotland Kilt Company is apparently Lakhbir Singh, who does not appear to be one of the Gold Bros (Malap, Surinder, Galab or Dildar Singh) though they share the same family name.

Singh is actually a very common last name... they even have their own tartan (STA/STWR ref:2600), designed by Lochcarron for yet another unrelated person by the name of Sirdar Iqbal Singh of Lesmahagow (south of Glasgow).

Looks like a reasonable value for money five yard kilt, and you have a nice tartan there.
Not so sure about the white hose though.
Singh is a very common second name here in Scotland, as far as I know it is not a surname but denotes that the person is a Sikh, ie Lakhbir is a Sikh and so is Malap etc.
I had been considering getting a kilt in Isle of Skye tartan for a while so when Forrester Modern posted the link on the previous thread I decided to place an order over the internet.
I then spoke on the telephone with a gentleman at the Scotland Kilt Company the following day. The kilt was out of stock in my size and I was given an opportunity to cancel if I needed the kilt in a hurry. I asked him how Skye Isles differed from Isle of Skye and he said it is the same tartan but different retailers sell it under alternative names. I then asked if his company were connected with Gold Brothers and he said that although they have the same family name they are an independent company. He said it would take about five weeks for them to make a Skye Isles kilt in my waist size and I agreed to confirm my order and await delivery in due course. Let the jonesing begin!!
