Sporran belt
I would like to get a sporran belt to replace the chain-belt that one sporan came with. Any recommendations? I was hoping for a brown and black version.

I recently had my local harness maker make me a sporran belt. Total cost, including buckle: $15.00. Well worth the twenty minute drive in the country.

I have a nice Saltire chain belt. I got it on ebay for about £30.
It's really good quality and it looks really good... not too chunky!

I got in touch with Mike at Scotia Metalworks. His website doesn't list sporran belts but someone here on the forum mentioned they had bought one from him at a festival. I bought a brown and a black belt from him for $12 each (plus shipping). They're great quality and the service was wonderful. One thing to keep in mind is to know how long you need the belts to be. I'd never had a sporran or a belt before so I could only give him my waist size and now I need to have the belts on the very last possible hole. I should have added a few inches to my order, but that's my fault not Mike's. I've been meaning to do a proper post about his work in order but haven't had time. Definitely check him out. I plan on saving my pennies to buy one of his beautiful sgians.

I just added one to my Scotweb order...$12.99 each I recall...they come in three colors. Probably not the most cost effective or fastest method by any means since it's coming from across the pond...but since there were several items I was purchasing, it made sense to tack it on.
My plan for a brown one involves DIY using a dog leash, some brass hardware, and my leatherworking skills. You might also consider a stop to your local Agway, Tractor Supply Company, Central Tractor, etc....anyplace they sell tack for horses...you're likely to find a long leather strap with a buckle that could easily be converted.

Checkout the sporran straps and hangers made by Oconee Leatherworks:

Very well made, handsome stuff and great service (by a fellow XMarker I might add)
