I'm a big fan of Shipyard out of Maine, the have a killer Blue Fin Stout and their summer ale is perfect for sitting around a campfire. My favorite locals are Custom Brewcrafters (Honeoye Falls, NY) Double Cream Porter and Ithaca (Ithaca, NY) Nut Brown.
I recently finished my first batch of home brew, I made a red ale that came out fantastic according to all my friends that seem to be stopping by more often.

Congrats on the first successful batch of homebrew! My first was a clone of McEwan's export. I just opened a bomber of it Monday to celebrate St. Andrew's day. Nearly a year after bottling I'm still wicked impressed that I actually made it myself.

Pike Brewing Company has a really good Scotch ale called Kilt lifter. I also really like Cold Smoke out of Missoula Montana.

In fact, usually when I get a non-Texan to try it and they fall in love with it, their biggest complaint is that they can't find it outside of Texas.
I've heard that the folks at Shiner have really resisted going national with their product, because they want to remain a specialty microbrewery. I find that admirable, considering that they value something over money and fame.
If you can find it, definitely try it - especially if it's available in draught. It is pure bliss. Full flavor with just the right balance. It is definitely my go-to brand.
Hear, Hear! My fridge is never without it.

OK, I offer a NEW BREW in town. It's:
Southern Belle
...from a new brewery in Conroe, TX, just north of Houston. Right now, they offer a Pine Belt Pale Ale and a Blonde only in cans. I'm partial to the pale ale. This brew is available in Spec's for us locals, and I suppose out-of-towners can order to ship. BTW, I have no ownership interest in this place, but the beer is really good and I'd like to see this fledgling company grow.

It's interesting to see more and more breweries putting their brews out in cans. The only ones we get out East packaged that way are from Oskar Blues and they're all incredible.

My fav.
I was never much on thying the bolder beers untill I joined the pipe band and met a brewer who has since educated my pallette. By far my favorite is his homebrewed Octoberfest. When it comes to ales I can get in the store I like the Fat Tire from New Belgium.

Frankly, I'm not crazy aout drinking soft or hard drinks out of cans (I always pour the contents into a frozen mug). I'm hoping that this little brewhouse in Conroe will soon graduate to bottles. Then, I'll really be pleased. I think it's got great potential!

I guess we're on different ends of the spectrum. My pa keeps a mug in the freezer for his beers (now they're mainly the homebrew I bring him), but I'd prefer my beer to actually be warmer than fridge temperature than below, and certainly not freezing cold. The type of beer we drink might also influence our preferred temperatures.

It's all over SW Missouri & NW Arkansas, and to be quite honest -- it's not really my cup o' tea, but horses for courses and all that.
My all-time favourite microbrew is the Schild Brau Amber from Millstream Brewing Company in the Amana Colonies (Iowa). Tin Mill Brewing Company in Hermann, Missouri, makes one of the best Dopplebocks I have had this side of Spaten Optimator. Flat Branch Brewing Company in Columbia, MO makes a mean Brown Ale.
I have a list of brews and seasons & reasons for consuming, from Belhaven to Tiger Beer from Singapore.
