It's been a VERY interesting month
or so. We went on vacation with my parents from 5/16-26 to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. The following weekend my 2 nieces from southestern Kansas came thru for vacation and left my parents the following weekend. My sister arrived at their house on the 22nd and will leave the 29th. My daughter and her family will arrive in 2 days and leave on the 6th of July.
Then there is work, last Thursday the 19th HP announced they were building 2 new state of the art call centers in Arkansas and New Mexico. All of their sales and support call centers will be moved to these two locations and one in Georgia by 2011. Yep, that includes the group I work for. Then yesterday they announced a WFR (workforce reduction) at one of the existing locations which ends up putting the work of some of those people on our team.Our staffing is now down 33% and not sure how long it will take to get approval for replacements OR where they will end up. Looks to be a "war" of attrition, how many are going to stick it out to the bitter end or how many are going to get WFR'd later. This comes on top of a sharp rise in unemployment in this area and the largest list of un-sold houses in a long time. Time to fancy up the resume and hope for a good work from home job.
