    Put it on, and see what it looks like. If you don't wear a sporran, the lack of a cutaway front for it isn't that big a deal. I wear a sport coat over a casual modern kilt from time to time. looks fine.

    My Utilikilt Mocker has pockets. They're HUGE which can be a bit awkward...but I'd imagine the sport coat in question would have some pockets as well...

    Most of my coats have pockets.
