John Anderson - which version?
Was the pattern used the toe-up? or the more recently posted top-down pattern? Just out of curiosity.
I haven't knit either, but just reading the toe-up was daunting to me. The top-down looks much more straight-forward.
They are a beautiful hose, and you are one lucky Scot!

Honestly, I have no idea about toes up or down, but it sounds familiar that my mum said something about it being a toe-up sock. I guess you understand- I'm afraid I'm not a knitter- just an appreciater of knitted things
