While the colours don't translate well when converted from CMYK to RGB/gif,
you get the general idea. I personally like the one on the far right the best.

Blue is a royal blue, similar in tone to, but lighter than the X-Marks tartan blue. The greenish colour drops squarely between an American OD green and a British Khaki. Gold was pretty much untouched by the file conversion. Red is a nice deep red, not quite a claret, but also neither too cool (blue/purple) or warm (orangy).

If anyone likes the general idea, I'll see if I can tweak the colours in photoshop.

I do like a stripe pattern where there is a small break-stripe in between all the big block stripes.

Good show! I agree that "number three" is the best of the bunch.

Still a bit too "matchy" for my tastes, but I could live with this (especially since I don't own a kilt in X-Marks tartan).

Well, "matchy" or no, I think that a XMarks tie should be based on the colors that we have, the colors of our tartan. That combo of colors has meaning for 'us', and hopefully a tie so arrayed would be recognizable to 'those who know' if we were to see it in public, just like when I see somebody wearing my school tie. Such a tie would really only be "matchy" if worn with an XMarks tartan kilt, and if you're wearing that kilt, the tie would of course be a little redundant.

I feel like this "non-matchy" thing is getting a bit strained lately, to the point where sometimes I'm not sure whether or not it is being overemphasized just for humor.

Do you know Mr Z., I was wondering the same thing. Going out of our way not to match things is in many ways just as contrived as the matchy thing. I have said many times that if we look hard enough we can probably match a colour somewhere on our attire and as long as that is by accident then all will be well. This putting all this effort and thought into NOT MATCHING ANYTHING, ALL THE TIME is just damned hard work and is an over reaction to the matching theme.

I am entirely in agreement on both points. Let's encourage Steve to move forward with the design offerings as quickly as possible. Perhaps at that time, rather than haggling over the mm of a stripe we could simply put up a well-thought poll. Included in that poll could be options such as straight and bow and acceptable price ranges as well as choosing from the designs offered.

What is we used an embroided dandelion on a variety of fields, so that we had choices in the tie color, while still being identifiable? Burgundy, blue, black, or even tweed!

When the minimum order is 50, I doubt we're going to end up with variants, assuming we can even decide on a first design
