    At the movies

I was watching Marilyn Monroe and Lawrence Olivier in THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL ( 1957) recently and saw, dressed for a coronation, a gent in the "loud" MacLeod tartan and Prince Charlie. I am guessing it was a PC, it could have been a Regulation, as he was sitting down.

I don't recall ever watching that movie, MacLowlife.

Were you able to see if his hose were diced or tartan?
    Was Marilyn in the scene?
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I used to watch Audrey Hepburn movies, though not all of them. I didn't really watch a lot of Monroe movies.

I'm trying to remember if there were any kilts in a Hepburn movie.

I think I watched Love in the Afternoon, with Hepburn, Gary Cooper, and the gypsy musicians, at least ten thousand times.

I saw l.i.t.a. once. There may be some similarity, as the "Carpathian" embassy does include musicians on staff, used for similar purposes. . MM's character is wise, but game. I'd like to see more Gary Cooper movies, after hearing Tony Soprano rave about him.

There is a parade in The Prince and the Showgirl and you hear pipes, but you don't see them.

Check out Cooper in THEY CAME TO CORDURA, then read the novel by Glendon Swarthout.

I have 'The Prince and the Showgirl' on DVD - yes, I admit it! - although I do not think I have viewed it since seeing the film in the cinema donkey's years ago. It was made in 1957 I think, and is set in London in 1911 at the time of the coronation of HM King George V. I'll make a point to playing it this coming week.

    Take care,
    Ham.
