Yes, Squeaky, I think he does do vow renewals. He might even do an underwater vow renewal complete with harpoon dance ceremony.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I'd like to thank everyone who has replied to this thread, you all have helped greatly
I think, in summary I will: Contact the school administraion before hand, and have pictures of a kilt outfit simlilar to what I am going to wear. I think they will give it the thumbs up.
On the girlfriend front, I will ask her before hand, present a good reason to wear a kilt ( family heritage, comfort, personal preference) and see what she thinks.
Hopefully everything will work out! I will probably post pictures of my outfit before hand to get a final check from you guys.

I am of the opinion that in any committed relationship, respect of each other's personal beliefs and priorities is paramount. If she doesn't like it, she should concede to it for special occasions, even if not for everyday wear.
And yes, please do post pictures! We'll make sure you're a dashing young man, even if his sporran is hanging a little low...

...and not completely rediculous!

If she is concerned about what she can wear....this assumes that she doesn't have her dress picked out already....please note that the forum has a "lasses wear" thread, which has literally dozens of pictures of womens outfits that sport tartan.

Problem is, Alan, I don't know whether that thread exists anymore or not... I haven't seen it since the big site redesign. IF it still exists, I would recommend it get "stickied" to the top of the threads...

I think that I like the look of black kilt hose with the Black Watch tartan, as opposed to white. What color flashes would go well with black hose? I think that the matching tartan flashes will blen to much, any ideas?

Red, man! Red looks KILLER with dark tartans! I have a Nightstalker from Stillwater Kilts, and I actually wear red hose with it. Makes one heck of a stunning contrast.

We need a "duck and cover" smilie.
White and black hose (as I have learned from experience) aren't thought of to highly. Normally considered cheap, tacky and something that smacks of "rental."
I will add that for the most part I have come to agree with them that other colors of hose look way nicer. The area I disagree is when I'm wearing a solid black outfit but that's a tale for another thread down in the Modern section.
Any number of hose would go great with the outfit. I would favor (personal opinion only) green with red flashes or better yet garters.
Something that hasn't been brought up that I noticed is the sgian dubh. While traditional I assume your school bans blades?
