I like the dark hose, and that sporran is the dog's.

I'll probably have the buttonhole done when I get the waistcoat done.
I had a magnetic buttonhole made for my wedding since I wasn't going to ruin a brand new Regulation Doublet.
A few strong magnets could do the trick for ya.

I am attending a St. Andrews Ball next Saturday and am planning to go with a similar look with my kilt in Kerr Modern. I am torn between wearing burgundy or bottle green hose as I do not own any Argyle or Diced hose. The only flashes I have either match the tartan or are the same dark green as the kilt hose. Which hose/flash combination would you recommend?

Assuming you mean the below Kerr (Tartan Ferret)

and don't wish to buy anything new, I'd go with the burgundy hose and the green flashes.

IF you are willing to drop $20, I'd get some red flashes or garter ties, and then you can wear your green hose.

I think your kit looks very fine! I particularly like the penannular instead of the usual kilt pin. I also wear a penannular every now and then and prefer it. Kudos also on tying the tie yourself. Don't hesitate to make the bow less than perfect so that everyone knows you tied it!

    Thanks, Jack Daw.

The tie and shirt are the two bits of the outfit I was sure I had under control. I've worn the same style shirt for the better part of the last two decades, and this is the SAME tie I've worn for that same amount of time.

The tie is actually starting to show it's age. I'll miss it when it's gone. It's been to some ripping parties, my wedding, and a few very nice dinners.

The penannular is really nice, much nicer in person than in pix. It's also light, which I like. I know it runs contrary to the purpose of a kilt pin (holding down the apron), but I do hate when I feel that constant weight bumping into my right thigh.

Hopefully our WARPIPER will log on and post the pix that were shot from the big 'do'.

How could I have overlooked that smashing sporran?! Excellent well, sir! Isn't skunk and pole cat the same thing? It is down here... As for badgers: KRIKEY! Let's not go there, eh? He definitely looks cranky.

I must say I stand corrected on the red hose as I, too, somehow took the purple stripe to be red. Good call Mr Newsome.

Lookin' forward to event piccies!!! *wink*wink*nudge*nudge*

    Thanks mate.
Shaun was referring to the sporran because it's the kid-brother to the one I made for him a few short months ago.

You can see my original thread http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...unk-wip-61052/.

    His review HERE.

    And it in action HERE.

I created this one to test a few new techniques for later pieces.

Now that my Tartan Ball is done with, I'm planning on posting it for sale next week.

Hopefully pix of the event will be forthcoming soon.

I saw the sporran you made for Shaun at the Salado festival and it's a handsome piece.
