As many have said, sporran height looks fine.

Good to see another 'trooper here!

From our own Matt Newsome's How to Wear the Kilt -- literally:

"Now you are ready to put on your sporran. Adjust your sporran strap so that the top of the sporran is a few inches (not too much! I'd say no more than 3" or 4") below the belt. If your sporran moves around too much, feels like it is slipping, or feels uncomfortable in any way, you are probably wearing your sporran strap too loosely."

I read somewhere once that a sporran should hang about 3 finger widths below your buckle.
It seems to work for me.

I'm not sure what all the fuss about measurements is all about. If it bounces on your business, it's too low/loose.

I think the sporran positiion is fine (even though I'm an American!), but I would wear your kilt a bit higher on the waist.

I was told it was an external "cup" to protect your *ahem* twig and berries. I wear mine accordingly.

Aye, I think we've all heard someone tell us that one, at some point.

I'm not really sure where that particular piece of misinformation has it's origin, but the sporran is certainly (and was, in period) a place to carry small items. Period. While it does today have some decorative or stylistic purposes too, it is not, nor was it ever intended to be, a codpiece.

Perhaps this misconception is what leads so many Americans to wear their sporran too low, as has been mentioned in this thread aready?
