While it is nice to have an official tartan, I wish they chose a more attractive pattern. Something with brighter colours. Perhaps white and red with some blue for Quebec.
Hmm. Dunno, but I've never seen white, or blue maple leaves, have you?

Canada is a country replete with ironies but not the least among them is the fact that the team colours of the traditionally ultra-protestant and Anglo-saxon Toronto hockey team are those of the Quebec provincial flag, blue and white, while those of Montreal's team are those of both the Ontario and Canadian flags, ie, red. The second greatest irony from the old days is that the most popular beer in Ontario, Molson's, was made by an English-named brewery based in Quebec while that of Quebec's most popular beer, Labatt's 50 ('Labatt Cinquante') was made by a French-named brewery based in Toronto. Now of course Coors owns and makes everything that Budweiser does not. Which says it all.

Labatt's was a London, Ontario, brewery first and foremost. The Labatt family were hardly French: definitely Irish!
Even though my cousin married a daughter of Senator Hartland Molson, Labatt's was my preferred brewery. I even worked one summer in the Labatt's brewery in Waterloo.

And proud to say that John Labatt's first "Chief Engineer" was my mother's Dad - Charlie Few.
When Grampa was in hospital, John came to visit him and asked him what he needed. He said he probably would need a cane, so John said, "Here - take mine; I'll lean on the chauffeur on the way out." So sitting across from me right now is the cane that belonged to John Labatt - and my Grampa.

That's a great story. I love 'living history', versus stale, museum, in the books history.

I beg your pardon; as someone who teaches "in the books history", and used to work in a museum, I take exception at your comments, sir. Good history is a well-told story, and we tried our best to make history come alive with the aid of our resources.
