Kilted Rabbi

Why am I never in a kilt when I see a kilted guy in the neighborhood? I leaving the place where the Euchre Club meets last night and right in front was a guy in a Utilikilt Survival with the trunk of his car open. Turns out he's a Rabbi and wears kilts most of the time. A friend of mine whose husband is a pastor (also kilted)is making him a new kilt. We talked a bit but he had to get back to the Seder supper he was leading. Made my evening.

Cool. I've only seen 1 randomly kilted person here in Oklahoma City. I didn't get a chance to approach him, but if I see him again I will certainly make time for a chat.

There are probably about a half dozen folks in my neighborhood who wear kilts around. Don't really know any of them, but one day I actually saw two other kilted folk within an hour.

I live in Rogers Park on the North Side of Chicago. It was listed in the Chicago Reader as the most diverse neighborhood in Chicago with a lot of folk wandering around in ethnic garb, so the kilt doesn't phase anyone except some of the Jehovah's Witnesses who blanch when they see a man wearing a "skirt".

I attended a bar mitzvah for the son of a friend formally kilted a few years back . (I am not Jewish) Of course I was the only one there in a kilt but very well received in black tie.
We were at the dinner after in a banquet hall when in walks two guys in kilts. They were three sheets to the wind and had wandered over from an Irish pub across the street and decided to crash the party.
They were more than a little surprised to find me there.

Fantastic! My Rabbi has been to Scotland a few times and loved it, but I don't know if he's ever worn a Kilt.
Folk at Shul here are certainly surprised to see me Kilted if they haven't met me before but they're always perfectly welcoming and I've never had a bad reaction to it.

Simple answer; You're not wearing your kilt enough!

A little OT, but this thread reminds me of a incident I had a while back;
There was a thread here once about people making weird assumptions about where kilts are from, like a guy hollering "Hey Switzerland" at one one of us, or in one case asking the kiltie if he was a Rabbi.

Shortly after that I was running late to a get-together, and I was double-timing about 100 yards through a mall parking lot wearing my saffrom kilt. This black guy and his girl had been looking at me the whole time, and as I passed them at a trot, from behind me he hollers; "Man, what are you wearing?"
I was in a hurry, and that thread popped into my mind,
So I said "It's OK, I'm a Rabbi!" over my shoulder and I heard him say "oh he's Jewish" like it all made sense to him now!

OH, you mean a real rabbi! I thought it was plural for rabble, like maybe there were mutiple groups of people kilted.
