Let's see now, 1 octopus, 2 octopi... 1 rabbi, 2 rabbus?
Is plural of rabble then rubble?

You’re thinking of Barney Rubble, are you?
He doesn’t wear trousers either.

Isn't rabble already plural? My question is what would be the singular... ?

"Rabble" is classed as a collective noun. Thus it is one rabble, which would contain many individuals. Clear as mud?

Probably it's closer to "herd" or maybe "gaggle"

One rabble, two rabbi? Makes sense to me. ((In the US, a collective noun is, indeed a singular. Father Bill nailed it. Sorry for hijacking the thread.)
As to the OP, I, too, am gratified when I see someone else kilted for no other reason than to be kilted. Rabbis, priests, local pastors, etc al llook pretty good to me.

Old joke:
A man filling out a test for dog catcher comes to the question "What are rabies and what can be done about them?"
He thinks for a bit then writes "Rabies are Jewish priests and there's nothing that can be done about them."
