If Locust beans are carobs, I like those too. I also like the mesquite beans.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

And I thought we had some pretty weird food here in Norway, but grilled sheep head with eyeballs, dryed fish, smoked whale, half-fermented trout, hashed lungs and pickled herring are nothing against all the weird things you guys have eaten.

I may have an answer for you. Back in 1949 my father served at the weather station up near Baffin Island (Padloping, I believe was the actual island he was on). I remember him telling me that one of the local delicacies went by a name that translated to "the high meat". It was meat that had been allowed to partially rot before being eaten. He mentioned seal specifically, but thought the same process was applied to other meats as well.
All skill and effort is to no avail when an angel pees down your drones.

When I was a kid and had a dog, I tried a nugget of Purina Dog Chow to see what it was like. I didn't.
As a teenager, I ran out of toothpaste and thought I borrowed my brother's called Score, but it turned out to be hair gel in a tube. I guess since I gagged and didn't swallow that didn't count as "ate".

Octopus Soup. At a hibachi place. It was cold and full of tentacles. Weird. Didn't taste good, either.

It was probably the broth you didn't like. Octopus has a very delicate flavor on it's own. IMO it's really too easily overwhelmed by most other flavors and is best had either sashimi style or as sunomono (vinegared things) which is called then called sudako.

Most of the repsonses here have been from the flesh-eaters among us and have been about various meats and other animal products and functions. Here's a curveball for you: who do you suppose was the first person to eat and egg, and why do you suppose he did it?
Nobody's mentioned shark yet. Back in my carnivore days, I really liked it, marinated in Pepsi cola and then grilled over a ripping hot grill and basted with a little butter. Shrimp tails are good too, especially when deep fried. Lemon peel is a good after-dinner palate cleanser. Try it some time.

No, in this soup is was rubbery, chewy not really cooked. Didn't like it. I prefer fried squid.

Ah, but that's texture, not flavor. Octo can be chewy when either under OR overcooked. It takes a pretty good cook to get it right.
Most restaurants fail to achieve in this department.
