Since the Dress Act was repealed in 1782, and the First Fleet didn't sail for Australia until 1787, any Scotsmen sentenced to transportation for refusing to give up their Highland dress were probably sent to America.

Thats very interesting, a google search on the phrase "his majestys plantations" suggest that this could refer to the west indies, a lot of quakers were sent there, also Jamaica is mentioned as well.
heres a historical document that refers to plantations on the continent of America

Im unable to find any court records or such that relate to a convicted highlander being deported for wearing Tartan, anyone else any luck? is there any evidence of an individual being deported for the offence and if so where did they end up?

Wear what you want, look good doing it.
CT - that makes at least 4 black leather kilts in this area that I know of
Thanks CT.

What's embarrasing about Mull? That's not Lowland, it's headquarters for Maclean country--and Maclaine of Lochbuie, too. So what tartan do you wear?

There are two basic compelling factors that support your being kilted:
You are free;
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

I was sat in my Swedish chair from Ikea, watching news about the USA on my TV set from Japan, on a TV channel owned by an Australian company. I was drinking my coffee from South America, eating my Swiss breakfast cereal, I got dressed in my western jeans, put on my Aran Sweater, my Whites boots from Seattle, and my Australian Driza Bone coat, and went to work in Korean car, with fuel from the middle east, whilst listening to German Punk rock on the radio (Ramstein). I own (but dont wear) Bermuda shorts, I have an Hawaiian shirt (drinking shirt) and I would think that most of my T shirts come from somewhere in the far east. My motorcycles are German and American.
So why exactly do you have a problem wearing something from Scotland just because your not Scottish? If I worried about not having a connection to a particular country for something I would have to walk everywhere naked and starve !!
Life is too short to worry about what other people think.
