I would have to say that I get the most compliments on my Isle of Skye.

In my case the best reactions have been to my Holyrood and McLeod of Harris Ancient tartan kilts.

For me, it's my black Workman's Utilikilt. It just brings out The Envy. With tartan kilts, I think people assume that it's a national costume, but with the UK, the guys see it's something they "can" wear, and The Envy takes hold.

feileadh mhór
This maybe a jump in answering the question, but it would be my feileadh mhór, (belted plaid), in the Malcolm tartan. With all the kilties at Scottish festivals I have people wanting to take my photo. The belted plaid RULES!
Just considering my tailored kilts, the Stewart Black probably draws the most ooohhs & aaahhs.

My black kilts get attention every now and then. Don't have tartan, yet...so...we'll see one day.
I'm wondering what reaction folks give if they saw a black knife-pleated coruroy kilt...

My Napier blue and white tartan kilt gets the most attention from people. They just aren't colors people expect to see in a kilt.

I would have to say the reaction is the same in both of the kilts I currently own. I would note however, that folks recognize the SWK Nightstalker as being a kilt, and when I wear my AK, folks ask if it is a kilt. Besides that, mostly good comments one way or the other.

Tough to figure, but I'd guess my Isle of Skye and Leatherneck. Folks don't know the Leatherneck is honoring the USMC, they just think its a fine looking tartan, and it is.
