Is the amerikilt lightweight and if it is, it is probably better than shorts in that clmate. looking good

Yes it's an Amerikilt. It's my first and only at the moment so I have no basis of comparison to say how light it is over other brands, although I have read opinions online that it is lighter than the Utilikilt.
