They usually have a little flyer in the Sunday paper with the coupon in it. Usually when I've been at one of their stores, they have a pile of the flyers on hand and are happy to let you have the coupons. Alternatively, you might check their website to see if they have a downloadable coupon.

When you're in-store, sign up for their mailing list (usually at the cash register/check-out counter). They'll send 'em right to you, usually better coupons (longer expiration dates) than you get in paper or online.

JoAnn Fabrics, A.C Moore and Michaels are all crafts stores in the Maryland area and they all take each others coupons. The manager at Michaels said that the stores would only honor one of their own coupons per order but they would also honor one coupon from the other two stores for the same order. Michaels often has 50% off coupons.
If you see abbreviations, initials or acronyms you do not know the Xmarks FAQ section on abbreviations may help.

I just saw some very nice polyester-rayon tartans at Hancock Fabrics here in Austin. They're not on sale, but they're double-width at $US7.99/yard. Sorry, I don't recognize them yet (except the ubiquitous Black Watch). They seem to be the same weight as those I saw at Joann's last week.

I was just at a JoAnn's here in Austin. All their PV tartans and plaids are on sale, no coupon needed, 30% off. 45" width regular price is $7.99; 60" width is $9.99-$12.99 (the one I bought). I don't know whether this is a nationwide sale, but it might be worth checking out if you're looking to score some fabric.
