I also have degenerative Disc Disease. At age 50, exercise is still working for me, but I cannot miss even one day. Good luck with the surgery and a speedy recovery.

After 4 back surgeries, the final one being a fusion, I feel for you!

Best wishes on your surgery. 62 is not very old (I'm 62) and have back problems too. Exercise and diet keeps me off the table, I hope, for several more years.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, corrected for GMT, and hoping all goes well.

I've been trying to avoid it buy taking cortisone injections and physical therapy, but to no avail. Even after this one, I'll still have 6 herniated discs left. I've got degenerative disc disease so I have to get MRI's of my whole spine done every year to see which herniations are progressing.

The upside is that I'll be able to get back to taking daily walks in the park, and riding my 650cc Szuki Burgman maxi-scooter. It has a top speed of 115 mph, but being a mature 62 year old, I've only taken it up to 101 mph on the interstate. It's the only time I don't wear a kilt - full riding gear with body armor. Carry a kilt in the storage area though. It's funny to see some of the expressions I get when I ride to the park - exiting the men's room in a kilt, and carrying full motorcycle gear back to my bike, before beginning my walk. Can hardly wait to be able to do that again.

Thanks all for your supportive wishes for a successful surgery. The surgery went very well. They only kept me in the hospital one day. I spent most of the day pressing the morphine button and sleeping.

I'm on Vicodin every 4 hours and have to use a walker for awhile, but that's because of the pain from the surgery. I can already tell that most of the lower back pain I was having has been relieved. Sure looking forward to getting back to walks in the park and riding my maxi-scooter.

Thanks again for all your support. A great community we have here.

    Darrell
