The ysgrepan is the Welsh version of a sporran as shown in the illustrations above. The word simply mean "scrip" or "purse".

They do have a dragon embossed on the flap along with a clever and unusual closure.

The illustrations show the day one (the second photo) which is decorated with goat hair and the more formal one (the first photo) which also has horse hair (the long black dangly bits).

Another variation is simply a semi dress sporran with a golden dragon on the flap.

Such items blend together with Scottish tartans and PCs much better than the other way around with the Welsh PC.

    Thanks All,

I did not dream there would be so many replies so quickly. You're a great bunch of folk! I am sorry if I did not make myself clear at the outset. My question deals with the propriety of having the Scottish tartan of the kilt sewn as the insets to the Welsh Prince Charlie jacket. There would be only one tartan worn.

The concensus of your replies seems to be building toward fully Scottish garments, and, I must confess, that was my own feeling. However, many thanks to McClef for suggesting the Welsh buttons and pins. That may be just the balance I was trying to seek. Why don't I ever think of these things?

Ginger Wig!?? I'm with you there. Mine's powdered.
