This will be my 3rd year at this Kilt kamp. It is wonderful!
any questions about the school or teachers hijinks etc. just ask me. I am always involved somehow.....
This class was taught by Elsie for 24 years, but she grew tired of the 3,000 mile trip.
Judy Sullivan teaches it now and is a wonderful kilt maker and teacher. It is the method from Barb and Elsie's book.

McFarkus, I'm surprised that class still has openings. That's the one I'm going to. Helps that it is local.

Once again, thanks everyone for all your help. I really do appreciate it ALL! I think I'm going to take advantage of the New Your class since it's one heck of a lot closer to Ohio. California would be fun, but maybe the next time. We'll see.
Cheers,
Jon
Only 9 notes. How hard could it be?

You should give Diana a call at R.P. Blandford (800) 686-1060 - the link McFarkus posted above.
Just talked to them today - next class in October. None in August / September timeframe.
Being slightly more local to Elsie, they offer her class more frequently and it is a very easy trip from L.A. to their shop. Please let us know their answer if you do call.
Oh, it is a 5 day class, though... might cut into your visit here.

I've just received an email from the Haliburton School of The Arts regarding the kilt making class. I thought I would post it for anyone who was holding out hope.

Hi Chris,
Unfortunately the Kilt Making course is not scheduled for this summer, but we do hope to have it for next summer.
Thanks,

Well, this all got me to thinking and once supplied with Judy Sullivan's proper email address I requested all the info from her I needed to hold my own darn kiltmaking class!
So, I have a teacher on order, I have a space all reserved, I just need a time frame so I can schedule this thing. Oh, and students would be be good too (I have 2 so far).
I was tentatively thinking of the following dates:
August 31-September 4, 2011
July 3-7, 2012

Obviously things will depend on responses but, if you got the number of students you were hoping for, how much would you ask for the class?

I'd love to take it but I'm too far away to make it practical.

With all things considered, I was thinking in the $275-300 range. I'm not trying to make money on this, just enough to cover teaching/travel costs with a little left over as a gratuity for the person providing the space.
The space can fit up to 8 people comfortably and the final price will depend on if I can fill all spots (well, 7, since one spot is mine!). The space is my dance school's studio which happens to be in the teachers house, so a kitchen facility is available for use or I can do a $50 additional expense per person for lunches.
So, question would be, would a course at the end of this summer be better than a course during the summer next year?
