looking for opinions on manufacturers

Congrats to a MacPherson cousin! I own 3 kilts in the clan tartan: Hunting (USAK casual), Weathered (Burnetts & Struth casual) and Red (USAK semi-trad). Sorry I don't have any input on the Frugal Corner, but if I was going to be wearing the kilt for my wedding (which sadly I won't, but that's another story) I'd feel confident and proud to strap on with the USAK semi-trad or the casual from B&S. All the kilts are wonderfully made and fit perfectly, but the semi-trad has the extra pleats to bring it up a notch and the B&S casual is in wool. I just looked at their site and they have 2 MacPherson tartans in 16oz wool on sale for $200. More than the FC, but a great deal and good investment...especially for your Big Day.

I don't intend this to be a thread detour, but has anyone had any experience with J. Higgins Value kilts? Would you recommend one as an alternative?

Thanks every one. I have searched around the different sites for prices and options from every one the only reason i was saying USAK over others is that fact that they were the cheapest for a kilt and fly plaid in the MacPherson dress. and unfortunately Renting a MacPherson dress is almost completely out of the question, my groomsman will be renting a standard black watch but i decided that i would go all out and celebrate my heritage in full dress. I thank you all for your input Especially Kilted Jeeper for your first hand input. and you can probably expect to hear from me again on the subject. As this will be my first kilt I am trying to do things right and not be unsatisfied.

Glad I could help. You are already several steps ahead of me as I did not find XMarks until after my first kilt purchase.
